Talking Trash

Mar 19, 2005

Please help keep our neighborhood litter free. If you see litter, pick it up. If you have litter, put it in a garbage can. If you see someone litter, call the police with a description of the violator. We have installed 24 purple trash receptacles around the area: Please teach your children to use them.

Trash collection is on Thursday. Garbage cans cannot be put out at the alley or curb before Wednesday at 3PM, and they must be brought back from the alley or curb within 24 hours of pickup. Garbage must be in garbage cans with tight fitting lids. Toters for garbage or lawn waste can be rented from Waste Management for $2.50 per month. These hold 2-3 times the amount of regular garbage cans, have attached lids, and are easily wheeled.

Lawn waste is picked up at the same time and place from the 3rd week of March thru the 3rd week of December. Brush and branches must be no longer than 5 feet and must be tied in bundles no heavier than 50 pounds.

Tires will be picked up by Waste Management, but you must call them at 694-6246 before the last pickup of the month. The tires are picked up in front of your house, not the alley.

Salvage people usually drive our alleys on Wednesday night looking for appliances or other metals. You can put appliances, etc. out on Wednesday afternoon; however, if the salvage people don?’t take it, you must remove it from the alley and make other arrangements.

Please report violations of the above to Code Enforcement at 494-8654 with a description and address of the violation.
