Tuskegee Airmen Are Landing Again in Driving Park

The Tuskegee Airmen Education Center (TAEC) Program is launching  Project Hope.  This is a series of fun and educational workshops for our kids.  The summer camp will expand to an after-school pilot program in September 2014.  The workshops are as follows:

1) Video Game Workshop - Don't just play video games, create your own  

2) Photography Workshop - "Do you see what I see?" - learn photography 

3) Theater & Art - create, write, sing, dance, perform our own PSA

4) Mechatronics - build my own PC - you build it, you own it

In countless interviews, the Tuskegee Airmen and their families said their commitment and dedication to education, excellence and service led to their achievements.  Therefore, we are “Keeping history alive for another generation through Education” by establishing the Tuskegee Airmen Education Center (TAEC).  We are serving our city by advancing the education of all our children, from disadvantaged backgrounds, regardless of race.  

Project Hope has broad support and collaboration from our consortium members, including Ohio State, school administrators, city council, community leaders, United Way, private businesses, teachers, parents, and many more.  The launch is in the Driving Park neighborhood whose elementary school ranked 5th from the bottom in the entire state and the 5th grade reading proficiency is 16.3%.
