Target Sucks !

Discipline

I know someone who also taught at a Parochial School, and then a Public School. He said there was no difference in discipline. The teacher turnover is much greater. Like the previous poster they will hire anyone to save money.

All you have to do is look at the school rankings. Olentangy is one of the best. It is also true that many parents send there kids to a parochial school because they are a discipline problem under the misconception they will be handled. So does that say maybe there are more kids who may have a negative effect on your kids??

If your kids are good kids, what is the problem with sending them to a great school? Maybe you do have to worry about having them disciplined. If so I don't think there is any benefit paying big bucks to send them miles away. The cost alone to get them there and home, as well as the time they have to spend commuting is wasted.
To Ride

My public school education taught me that it is ''accept'' not ''except''

And they don't have to let them back in, they can expel them and they are forced to find another public school to take them.
What are you nuts?

If all kids went to Parochial Schools I would be paying 3 fold what my taxes are now? Two kids at what 5 to 6 thousand a year. You are the one who is nuts.

My kids get a great education, with good discipline, and probably as good or a better guidance departmant as any Parochial School.

You don't deserve a tax break. You are the one making the choice to spend the mega dollars for a Parochial School.

What if I wanted to opt out of fire protection or law enforcement. So don't plow my street because I don't care if my child can get safely to the bus.

You are already getting a break when Olentangy provides bus transportation for your kid to go to a school other than Olentangy. Drive them every day to Watterson or wherever and add up your time, fuel etc...

Don't tell me I am nuts.
Re :Build them

You're out of your mind. When is the last time you heard of shootings at a Parochial school ? How about rapes ? Remember the sex assault on the retarded girl at Mifflin HS ? Plus some teachers in public schools just go through the motions, where in Parochial schools they are more likely to get a teacher that is fairly young and more eager to teach. I have known teachers at public schools that spend half their day, just trying to deal with unruly students. You were comparing a setting outside the school environment, that has nothing to do with how they act in school.I'd be willing to bet anything, that the overall GPA is much higher in Parochial schools than Public. That is a FACT !!
