I just found out that an older gentleman nearby was scammed by people that convinced him to let them roof-coat his home with a "silicone coating to preserve and protect" his roof. The coating is basically foam & white paint that will wash away and not harm the shingles.
Also there are numerous bicyce thefts going on. When you report bikes missing, if you give TPD the serial number, then when the bikes are found, TPD can drive them to your front door. Otherwise, without identifying characteristics like the serial number, they go to an "impound lot", and you'll probably never see it again. The same goes for your tv sets, computers, etc: keep a record of the serial numbers and the MAKE of the appliance (many brands have the same set of numbers for serial numbers, but without knowing which brand it belongs to, the cops can't run it through the computer. They can cross-reference with pawn shops so that the pawn shops can notify the police if a particular make & serial number which is in the police data base matches the one that is being pawned).
