Officers found open garage doors and even keys in the ignition of one car.



Tampa Police District 1 ROC squad kicked off a "Knock and Lock Initiative." They found plenty of vehicles that were unlocked, garage doors open, windows down and even a car with the keys in the ignition!! This operation is all part of an education campaign reminding residents about safety. Officers walked door-to-door, reminding residents to keep their garage doors, yard gates, home doors and vehicle doors closed and locked at all times. Officers visited 150 residents during the two-hour crime prevention initiative. Residents were pleasantly surprised and very complimentary of this latest TPD tactic to get the word out to residents as to how they can best prevent being victims of burglary & theft offenses
