Memorial Day is traditionally May 30th, and this year the 30th is also the officially recognized holiday. Memorial Day kicks off the simmer patriotic season that includes The Fourth of July and ends with Labor Day (by tradition the first Monday in September, as it is this year).
As a community project, let's all put out some simple patriotic decoration for the summer season. It could be simply an American flag, or a red, white and blue banner, garland, rope light, star, mobile . . . even some red, white or blue flowers together. Just some token effort, to show we are one neighborhood in one community in one great country.
Wouldn't it be really nifty to walk around our grid and see red/white/blue all over? Wouldn't it make you feel as if you are a part of something really big?
