Pumping of the Blue Sinks???? WHAT?????

Posted in: Eagle Eyes - Forest Hills Grid 18
TWO MILLION GALLONS PER DAY !

That’s how much water the City of Tampa wants to pump from the Blue Sinks at 109th  just west of Florida Avenue (across from the Rec Center).

That makes Forest Hills “ground zero” for a project that may be a benefit to the City of Tampa, or – as some see it – a major problem for our neighborhood.

This project has flown under the radar for Forest Hills residents for a number of years. The Blue Sinks system is part of where the storm water in the entire Forest Hills area is supposed to drain into. This project will most likely have a large effect on us and our drainage.

If you want to learn more about this project or have questions about potential well problems, sinkholes or the long term effect of pumping please join your neighbors at the November meeting of our sister group, the Forest Hills Neighborhood Association, on Tuesday, November 12th at 6:30pm. The meeting is at the pavilion at the Babe Zaharias Golf Course.

City of Tampa Water Department Director Brad Baird and a team of engineers from the city as well as the Southwest Florida Water Management District will be on hand to outline the project for us and help us understand the possible effects.

SWFWMD will begin the permitting process shortly after the meeting Tuesday night. There will be a 21 day period before permits are issued for comments from the public. This is where you come in: it will be your chance to make your voice heard.

I urge you to attend this meeting. This project will affect EVERYONE in this neighborhood.
