Eagle Point Neighborhood Association

Neighborhood Watch

Nov 28, 2006

What it will do for us:

1. Deter criminal activity;
2. Create a greater sense of security and
reduces fear of crime;
3. Builds bond with neighbors; people look
out for one another; it stimulates
neighborhood awareness;
4. Reduce the risk of becoming a crime
victim by presenting ourselves as a
united presence;
5. Instruct residents on how to observe and
report suspicious activities in your
community;
6. Addresses quality of life issues and
mutual interests in your community.
7. Enhance security; and
8. Work collaboratively with other civic
activities.

What we must do for ourselves:

1. Get to know your neighbors, introduce
yourself, don?’t wait for them to come
to you;
2. Don?’t expect our neighborhood to change
overnight ?– it takes time and
persistency;
3. Handle your own isolated incidence by
calling the police or addressing it with the
person, et a neighbor know if you need help
with this;
4. Change your locks and secure your windows,
get deadbolts;
5. Take extra security measures when you are
away from home;
6. Let your block captain know if you would like
to have a separate block meeting or take the
steps to organize one yourself;
7. Let us know if your block captain is not
meeting your needs and consider being or
helping a block captain;
8. Be willing to volunteer in our neighborhood
in some capacity, don?’t expect everyone else
to do all of the work;
9. Come to the meetings with suggestions and
discussion topics, not complaints.
