About Us

East 233rd St. History and Mission

History:
November 1999, our pastor Reverend Wayne A. Williams brought to the leadership council a vision of a senior center as part the church community outreach program.

January 2000 pastor vision was growing dim, complications and roadblocks was causing us to lose focus. Thank God we began to pray and meeting of the minds began to come together because we believe in God and that all things can be done through Christ who strengthen us for the good of those who love the Lord.

March 2000 four church members and two volunteers embarked on a journey to bring the vision of having a senior center to reality and God has truly blessed us.

April 2000 we introduce the MHBC Senior Citizens FYI Bulletin, however as of today our center and newsletter has a new name the East 233rd St. Senior Center and East 233rd St. Senior Voice. In which voices our senior’s humor concerns and a list of contributors and other interest.

May 2000 we have 4 members on the Board of Trustee’s, a director, co-director, secretary/treasurer and an advisor.

August 9, 2000, the East 233rd St. Senior Center name was excepted and patented by the IRS.

June 2001 the IRS determined that the center is exempt under section 501 (a) as described in section 501-(c) (3) with 509-(a) (1) classification status. Shortly afterward in July 2001 we received our sale tax exempt status.
