PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS

If you are a homeowner age 65 and over, or a homeowner of any age who is totally disabled, you may now apply for "tax exempt status." This means you will not have to pay property taxes.

You may apply at any time before DECEMBER 31, 2009.

Please call the Tax Assessor's office (325-5505) before you go to the Jefferson County Court House. You will need to know what papers to take with you. It is important to ask when you application will take effect.
