NEIGHBORHOOD POLICE CONCERNS

BREAKING AND ENTERINGS

BALTIMORE COUNTY POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED A PROBLEM IN OUR COMMUNITY. THERE ARE RESIDENTIAL BREAKING AND ENTERING INVOLVING THE DECEPTION OF ELDERLY VICTIMS. THE SUSPECTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED AS BEING A WHITE MALE IN HIS LATE 40'S AND A WHITE FEMALE.
1. USUALLY THE SUSPECTS WORK IN GROUPS OF 2 OR MORE.
2. THE SUSPECTS TARGET WHITE, ELDERLY VICTIMS.
3. THE SUSPECTS HAVE DRESSED AS A PASTOR, POSE AS CLERGY OR A PRIEST AND NUN.
4. THEY OFFER TO "BLESS YOUR HOUSE"
5. THEY SOMETIMES DRIVE AROUND NEIGHBORHOODS LOOKING FOR THE ELDERLY.
6. IN THE PAST, THEY REPRESENTED THEMSELVES AS CONTRACTORS, UTILITY WORKERS, ETC.
7. ENTRANCE INTO THE DWELLING MANY TIMES IS THROUGH AN UNLICKED DOOR.
8. ONCE INSIDE, ONE WILL DISTRACT THE OWNER OF THE HOUSE, WHILE THE OTHER SEARCHES FOR CASH, JEWELRY OR SILVERWARE.

1. KEEP YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS LOCKED
2. DO NOT HAVE KEYS HIDDEN UNDER A MAT
3. ENGRAVE VALUABLES USING YOUR LICENSE NUMBER
4. ENGRAVERS ARE AVAILABLE FREE FROM YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY AND SOMETIMES THE LOCAL POLICE PRECINCT
5. GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS
6. REPORT CRIMES IMMRDIATELY TO 911111
7. NOTE THE LICENSE NUMBER, TAG NUMBER OR VEHICLE DESCRIPTION
