skateboard park

Posted in: Indigo Hill
What can be done about the loud foul language and the trash that comes from the skateboard park? The trash cans that were place there are now being used for obsticals to skate over. The trash is dumped out onto the ground only to have the grounds keepers mow over the trash further spreading it down the side of the hill. But the trash issue is nothing compared to the horrible language that radiates across our backyard. It is to the point that we cannot be in our backyard during the afternoons with our family because it is so offensive. It's too bad that a "great idea" on paper has ruined the sanctity of our home. Something needs to be done about both of these issues. Any suggestions???

I agree totally. Although some of these boarders may be using this area for recreation, others are using it to trash up our neighborhood. I would really like to see our Park Board and Indigo Hill do something. Further, you would think the sales office would also be concerned.

I can understand your concern. Last weekend I spent some time looking at the model homes near this park. It disturbed me to see the skateboarding. Not only was it an eye-sore with the trash and ramps, but the noise of the skateboards along with the kids yelling and cheering made me decide that this probably was not an area to live in. I really liked the location and perhaps a more formal park with basketball and tennis as the sanctioned activities, not skateboarding, would actually add to the quality of the neighborhood rather than detract from it. I hope something positive can be done.

Unfortunately, this is not an Indigo Hill property--it is almost seen as a "park" in the eyes of the Metro Districts (at least it shows up on the parks and trails map that way). I would suggest contacting Sherry Eppers, the Community Relations Manager of the Metro Districts (303-791-5077) or Tom Hoby, Director of Parks and Open Space (303-791-2710). They will listen to what you have to say.
