Eastwood Manor Subdivision

I just now was able to register, and would like to know if anyone has info about the sidewalks -- why were they started, and will there be more construction? Thanks!

Sidewalks on Kirby Rd (W)

It is my undferstanding that the sidewalk construction was requested by Mr.Ron Belz, who lives in Blue Heron Cove off of East Massey Road, just west of Corsica Drive. The Federal Government initiated the SR2S (Safe Route To Schools) program in 2005 stating that K-8 schools may request that sidewalks be installed within a 2 mile radius to encourage and accomodate children walking to school. Solomon Schechter School on Humphrey's Blvd falls within those parameters. Supposedly no matching funds are required by a City/County/State for such construction but the project Supervisor told me it was costing Memphis $30,000. I understand the plan is to continue sidewalk construction south to Cottingham Place but I don't know when that will happen. The SR2S initiative stipulates that sidewalk construction be completed by 2009. The City Engineer has yet to respond to my written request for information.
