ECHO HILLS HOMEOWNERS MEETING
January 15, 2008

Meeting opened for discussion at approximately 7pm

COMMUNITY BUSINESS:

--- Wayne reported there is $900 currently available in the budget.
--- Lori will do an Updated Directory for the community.
--- Lori said we would be having elections this evening.
Since no one new was there, everyone agreed to keep their existing positions.
Meredith Sloan volunteered to fill the missing ‘Secretary’ position.

The group discussed a bit about the Real Estate market in our area and thought it was a buyer’s market, but our resident Realtor, Michael Nester, said the market seems to be picking up seeing that the calls are more frequent in recent weeks during his call-times at his office.

The group discussed the situation with some cars coming into the neighborhood late at night. There has been a White car (make unknown) and a dark colored Maxima seen several times recently on June Street.
Lori suggested to everyone that it’s ok to call 911 every time they saw suspicious activity in the community. [Be sure to say “it’s not an emergency”]

Patsy Kinzey, our city council rep, also of Peese Engineering, spoke about what’s planned to do with the Mart Inn and Star Choice Motel.
Regarding Mart Inn Motel: Since the developer, BV Belk, cannot develop his original plan at this time, he will be doing extensive renovations on the existing Mart Inn Motel.
Patsy is always speaking out about changing the setback regulations on Independence Avenue so newer & better development can take place.

Lori asked about if there was something we could do to bring better business to Monroe Road. Unfortunately, the city is not looking into bringing business to Monroe Road at this time, they are focusing on I-74. The Star Choice is shut down. No plans to sell it, that she knows of. If you see any lights on or people in the Star Choice, please call 911.

Regarding calling law enforcement: There was a decision made by the Safely Committee that says: Police CAN enter a hotel/motel IF they get a call. The Police can request a guest list and the motel cannot block ‘911’ calls.
Code Enforcement CANNOT enter premises, as they are regulated by the state.

Lori briefly mentioned ‘speed bumps’ as suggested by one of the homeowners.
The consensus was NOT to put in speed bumps. Meredith mentioned perhaps putting up a few signs to remind people to slow down. No further discussion at this time.

Meeting ended at approximately 8:15pm.
