Edgemoor Minutes for April 18, 2002

Terese Hilliard called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.

Treasurer?’s balance was reported to be $725.44.

Our guest speaker was from Capital Improvements. John Green & Raoul Contata were present to speak with us about proposal changes for the improvements @ Puryear park. The city is looking at new lighting on concrete poles, which are currently in the works. An Additional 150 parking spaces & a large picnic shelter are part of the proposal. It has been suggested that all traffic will be routed down 62nd Ave. NE to Foch St NE for entrance to the park & that a cul-de-sac would be added to the ends of both 58th Ave. NE & Lee St. NE along with the possibility of a traffic light on 62nd Ave. NE. The tennis courts currently have poor lighting & a 4?” slope to the courts, 4 new tennis courts are proposed to be installed @ Edgemoor park across Canterbury Rd.

Residents suggested a gate for the parking lot & even offered to lock it nightly. All of these issues are currently in the beginning planning stages. The City is willing to work the plans with the Neighborhood in order to make the best plan possible & eliminate some of the traffic & parking problems associated with the park. There will be a full series of public forums for all of the proposals.

Our CPO officer Jason Deary was at the meeting. He reported that they had been very busy with 19 car burglaries in the Shore Acres area & a homicide situation near 9th St. N & 62nd Ave. N. Officer Troung was away at hostage negotiation school.

There will be a neighborhood block party @ Campbell Park on June 8th & 2 tickets will be available for the Devil Rays baseball game that day for every registered association household.

Councilman Bill Foster attended the meeting. Lee Metzger attended the meeting ?“as a resident?’ & had questions about revisiting the traffic calming devices within our area.
