MEETING NOTES EDGEMOOR NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

April 20, 2000 Faith Covenant Church 7:30 PM

There was no Director's meeting at 7 PM due to a lack of Quorum.

The General Business Meeting was opened by President Tracy Salomone.

Old Business:
Traffic Committee Update-
- Displayed map of voter approved neighborhood
traffic plan
- Currently collecting signatures of residabutting
the new traffic control devices.
- Additions to the approved plan can be initiated
with only the signatures of adjoining residents.

Minutes of the March 16th meeting were read and approved.

Conrad Weiser gave the CONA report as our representative.

Our Community Police Officer, Keith Glasgow, gave a review of local police activity.
- There has been a major attack on prostitution in
our neighborhood fineing "Johns" $500. to recover
impounded cars.
- Anticipated traffic flow changes as traffic
calming devices are installed in Edgemoor.
- Trespassing tickets are being issued after 11 PM
at Puryear Park.
- We were told that a Neighborhood Crime Watch can
only post their street signs if they meet at
least once each year.
- "Nuisance Abatement Ordinances" are being used
against sleezy motels that harbor prostitutes.
- We were warned that police response time for park
complaints will be slow around shift change time,
(11/12 PM). On Friday and Saturday nights, police
priorities may cancel response to such calls.

New Business:
Mr. Paul Oliva of Aspire Graphics presented a
proposal to publish a monthly newsletter for our
Edgemoor Neighborhood Association.
- There is a mailing list setup fee (one time).
- Publishes several locally including Euclid
Heights.
- Uses "Fill copy" from current Tampa Tribune.
- Will go in mail 1 week prior to our monthly
meeting.
- Text file will be available for posting
newsletter on our Web site.
- Business card adds=$20., full page adds=$120.
(Residents get a 20% advertising discount).

Moved, (Hawkins), to authorize our President to
contract with Aspire for a monthly newsletter and
to pay $100 setup fee. [Approved]

Tracy read from a letter describing a new Police
Department Program called City Watch. Residents are
urged to register their phone numbers in a
database that allows the police to automatically
call many phones at once in order to spread the
alert of a threat within our neighborhood such as
criminal activity, hazardous materials or severe
weather. Officer Chip Wells will present details
at our May meeting.

We were told Sunken Gardens can now be rented for
weddings.

The Police Road Patrol is now recruiting
handicapped workers.

There is an opportunity to setup a Neighborhood
Computer Laboratory, here, with Computers For Our
Community (CFOC).

Our association needs some volunteers to work as a
City Neighborhood Grant Committee.
