To those residents of El Cerrito Heights who would like to greet the new millennium with a gesture that would be symbolic and at the same time enduring and constructive, we offer this suggestion: why not plant a ?“millennium tree?” on your property, a meaningful family project that will resonate far into the future? Plant a tree to salute the new millennium, to honor a friend, to enrich posterity, or to create a vivid family memory that will re-echo in the years to come.
The trees come to you free from a special Seventh Council District fund; at a small cost, you can install a permanent marker, an original ceramic tile created by yourself or your child to commemorate the occasion.
If there is someone in your family, a child or grandchild perhaps, that you would like to honor by planting a ?“millennium tree,?” join our upcoming neighborhood tree-project, now scheduled for February, by calling Don at 286-8191. Several residents have already signed up.
The past year was a good one for trees in El Cerrito, having seen the planting of 29 new trees in the neighborhood. Please see related story on page 4 of this newsletter.
