Elvira Neighborhood Association Meeting 7/21/14

Call to Order: President David Densmore called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Moment of Silence
Introductions were made around the room.
TPD Report: Crime report made burglaries are up, along with stolen vehicles. Capt. George Rodriguez spoke stating that the Neighborhood Association as a group is a good tool for getting things accomplished. We need to work & stay together. Sgt Joe Merrill led a discussion on the laws concerning semi trucks. There are ways to change the laws but our meeting is not how it's done. Parking a semi truck in neighborhoods is against the law and they will be ticketed whenever a complaint is made.
Minutes: Motion to accept the June 2014 minutes as written was made, there were two objections to section A of Call to the Audience but the majority of members wanted it left as written. A motion was by Oscar Tortosa and seconded by Abel Salcido. Motion was passed by the majority present.
Treasurers Report:
Treasurer Mikki Niemi reported the balance of $2110.21 is in the ENA bank account. Motion to accept the treasurer's report made by Oscar Tortosa, and Dorothy Niemi seconded. Motion was passed by all present. Mikki Niemi announced that the annual audit of the books had been completed.
Old Business:
A) T-shirts-Dave informed members of the design and cost for the printing of that design on both sides. a vote was taken, everyone in agreement on it. White t-shirts with blank lettering will be purchased.
B) Robo-calls-Mikki explained the costs of $150.00 for 3000 minutes which will be done in 20-30 second call, so it will last over 7 months. A discussion was held before a vote was taken by members present and approved by the majority present. Council also voted to approve the cost 3-4.
C) Advertising more for Nextdoor.com was discussed.
New Business:
A) Dave announced the church is changing its name to Santa Clara United Methodist Church with new staff. Discussion held concerning we may need to update our signs and banner
B) Night Out Against Crime to be held Tuesday, Oct 7th. Volunteers for the committee were asked for and several members volunteered.
Call to the Audience:
A) Laura Dent from Ward One was present and announced the 6th Annual Bilingual Literacy Fair on July 26th at the El Pueblo Activity Center from 10:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Contact the Ward office for more info.
B) Eddie Islas, Principal Santa Clara Elementary School announced they did receive one of the grants they had applied for and will be getting a community service group together probably in Oct. They can assist in the walking path clean up or other community cleanup.
Adjournment: Motion to adjourn was made by Oscar Tortosa seconded by Abel Salcido. Motion was passed by all present. Meeting was adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
