Approved Minutes

Officers Present:     Dave Densmore, President

                                  Oscar Tortosa, Vive President

                                  Tere Filkin, Secretarty

                                   Mikki Niemi, Interim Treasurer

                                  Abel Salcido, Sgt at Arms (appointed)

 

Guest Speakers:  none scheduled this month

 Call to Order:  President David Densmore called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

                             David appointed Abel Salcido as Sgt of Arms for this meeting.

Moment of Silence

Introductions were made around the room

TPD Report:   no officer present this month

Minutes  A motion to accept the Jan 2015 minutes as written.  Motion to accept   made by Oscar Tortosa and seconded by Rachel Tortosa; it was then approved by all present.

Treasurers Report:  Treasurer Mikki Niemi reported balance is $1558.44  Motion to accept the treasurer's report was made by Oscar Tortosa, and seconded by Tony Martinez.   Motion was passed by all present.

New Business:   January elections.  Offices up for election are Vice President, Secretary, Historian, and additional Council positions.  Dave urged everyone to consider running for one of these openings.

New Business:  Night Out Against Crime  Tere Filkin proposed that we move our Night Out Against Crime back to the first Tues in Aug in line with the National celebration.  The City of Tucson no longer supports this event and we'd be able to obtain funds more readily from the national sponsor, Target.  Motion made by Tere Filkin and seconded by Oscar Tortosa, all present agreed on the change as long as the Church allows us the space for that night.  Dave will check with the church.

 Old Business:  By-Laws  Dave read from the current by-laws, the Charter is voted by the majority of members present at a meeting;  the By-Laws are amended and voted on by a 2/3 majority of the Council.  Council meeting is scheduled for March 3, 6:30 p.m. to vote on the approved changes.

Call to the Public:    Eddie Islas reminded everyone school is out next Thur & Fri for Rodeo.  Rachel Tortosa announced Santa Clara Church has a Food Pantry available twice a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mon and Wed.  She also announced the church will be holding a Community Rummage Sale in March, more information to follow.  Dorothy Niemi said she'd post these on NextDoor.com.  Sam Valdovin stated there are numerous pot holes in the neighborhood and the trash on Pinta has not been picked up yet.  Oscar Tortosa stated the bridge on Santa Clara is still in need of repairs.  Residents brought up that a traffic study should be done at 12th & Los Reales.

President's Report:  Abel Salcido has put his name forth to be considered by the Council for the Sgt at Arms position which is currently vacant.

 Adjournment:  Motion to adjourn was made by Abel Salcido in seconded by Tony Martinez.   Motion was passed by all present.  Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
