Home and Business Alarm Systems - On October 1, 2003, the City of Wylie began offering Direct Alarm Monitoring to homeowners and businesses at no monthly fee. Direct Alarm monitoring by Police and Fire Departments has been known to reduce Public Safety response times by as much as 80%. Garage Sales and Occasional Sales ?– Per City Ordinance, may only be held in a residentially zoned area and a permit is required. Garages sales and Occasional Sales are allowed 4 times per year per address with a permit. Contact Building Inspection for permit information.

Child Safety
Set security limits and monitor your children's internet usage. Child predators are alive and well in cyberspace.

Fire Safety
Keep areas around portable heaters clear of combustibles. A heater should have 3 feet of space from any combustible materials.
Old portable heaters may not have a trip switch to shut them off automatically if tipped over, so use caution when using older portable heaters.
Kerosene heaters produce carbon monoxide, a deadly odorless gas. These heaters should only be used according to manufacture?’s specifications and local code requirements. Typically they must be vented to prevent carbon monoxide from accumulating within a structure.
