Nonpoint source pollution often starts right in our own
backyards. It includes all kinds of substances picked up by
rainfall, runoff, irrigation, or snowmelt. Everything that
washes off our yards and driveways can end up in our
streams. Each of us contributes to nonpoint source
pollution; together we can all help prevent it.
What water picks up...
* Lawn and garden fertilizes and pesticides
* Yard and pet waste
* Auto-care residues
* Excess irrigation water
* Other household wastes
* Sediment
Remember, we all live downstream!
