This is intended for you homeowners who have not paid your $25 annual dues.
If you're like Patty and me, your mail contains solicitations for political donations almost daily, sometimes more than one a day. Supporting candidates and issues of our choice is one way we all have of exercising our freedom. Well, some of you resident and nonresident homeowners are going to receive another solicitation. Those whose names did not appear on the list of dues-paying homeowners included in the May Meadowlark, and who have not paid your dues since then, will be mailed another dues envelope. Please put your year-2000 dues check in that envelope and mail it as soon as you can.
As of this newsletter printing, 213 residents of Evergreen Meadows have paid their 2000 dues. That is not a very good showing. It means that more than half, 56 percent to be exact, of Meadows homeowners are letting those who have paid bear the burden of supporting EMHA's cost of operation.
You who choose not to pay annual dues are free to do so, but you are depending on enough of your neighbors to support EMHA to keep it funded and operating on your behalf. Without EMHA, your property values and quality of life here would be maintained only by your personally taking a neighbor to court for some act that damages your property value and the reasons why Evergreen Meadows is a marvelous place to live.
This year's weed management activity begins a program which puts an extra burden on EMHA's treasury. It is expected that this program will take several years to eradicate and control noxious weeds in our subdivision. This means that there is an urgent need for all homeowners to pay their annual dues, this year and in future years.
Considering the cost of buying a home in Evergreen Meadows (the average of 26 recent sales is over $330,000), our annual dues of $25 is an extremely small fee to pay to assure that EMHA has the means to carry out such programs as protecting our Covenants and the current weed management activity in maintaining (and enhancing) property values.
