We all know that hurricanes and large storms can be dangerous events. www.FarmingtonVillageHomes.com has thought of a few simple tips to encourage preparedness for the upcoming season, which runs from June to November, with the peak season from mid-August to late October.
Here are a few common items to have on hand in the event of a storm or possible power outages:
Make certain to fill your vehicles with gas at the first mention of a potential storm. Filling a bathtub with water in advance of severe weather is also strongly encouraged. If high winds are expected, bring outdoor furniture inside. Covering your home’s windows and sliding glass doors is also not a bad idea in case of high winds and the potential for flying items and debris in a severe storm or hurricane.
Those with special needs, such as elderly, handicapped or people dependent on electricity for medical equipment, should have alternate arrangements in place such as back-up batteries should they experience an extended power outage. If you will be using a generator, make sure to locate it in well-ventilated area.
