YARD WASTE ?– Branches, grass clippings, leaves, plant prunings, sod, and weeds:
?• Rocky Top Resources ?– 1755 East Las Vega Street, off Janitell Road, off South Circle Drive. Call 579-9103 for information and current status. Free every Saturday 8 AM to 4 PM with a donation of nonperishable food items (encouraged). Maximum tree length and diameter is 8 feet and 8inches. NO railroad ties, lumber, tree stumps or household trash. Sponsored by County Solid Waste Management Division.
?• Black Forest Slash-Mulch Program ?– East Side of Herring Road, just south of Shoup Road, Go north on Black Forest Road from Woodmen Road, east on Burgess Road, North on Herring Road. Call 520-7878 for information and updates for schedule. Hours of operation May to September, Tues and Thur 5 PM to 7:30 PM, Sat 7 AM to 4 PM, and Sun Noon to 4 PM. Donation requested. A Wildfire Mitigation and Recycling Program of County Environmental Services Department.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE ?– Paint, paint-related products, Lawn and Garden Chemicals, cleaners, batteries, bleach, fluorescent lights, medications, cooking and lamp oils, electronics, fire extinguishers, propane tanks, Antifreeze, brake and transmission fluids, motor oil, flares, ammunition, fireworks, etc
?• El Paso County Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility ?– call 520-7878 for appointment and information, or log on to http://adm.elpaso.com/Environmental_Services . FREE for El Paso and Teller County residents only. A non-perishable food donation for Care and Share is encouraged. Mercury thermometers can be exchanged for one new digital thermometer per household. Self-service used motor oil recycling program no appointment required. Accepts all listed above including ammunition and fireworks. Free usable products ?– Drop and Swap program for items received at HCWCF ?– materials that are unopened or still useable are available to the public at no charge.

?• Recycling Centers ?– Paper, aluminum, glass, cardboard, plastic bags ?– Cheyenne Mtn Zoo, Humane Society, Albertson?’s, King Soopers, Wal-Mart, Wild Oats ?– many have recycling centers for certain items. Check yellow pages and call for information.

What is Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) ?– A hazardous product is one that can harm the user or the environment. Anything marked ?“caution?”, ?“keep out of reach of children?”, ?“danger?”, ?“poison?”, ?“hazardous?”, ?“flammable?”, ?“use in a well-ventilated area?”, etc. should be considered hazardous and properly disposed of after deciding to discard.
