The Far Northwest Coalition (FNWC) met for its regularly scheduled meeting at St. Andrew Church on Smokey Row Road. Members present of the FNWC Board were John Best, Mike Brown, Joe Macomber and Rich Herner.

Best noted that the homes on the south side of Hard Road, between Linworth Road and SR 315 had been demolished, as part of the next stage of the Hard Road project. He also discussed the on-going work on the I-270 north outerbelt.

David Hodge then made a presentation to the FNWC concerning a graphics variance for the property located at 2445 Billingsley Road, the Byers auto dealership. Hodge noted that the original graphics plan was approved in 2002 but Subaru has changed its national logo, which will affect two of the signs on the subject property. He said local dealers always have issues when the national auto company changes signage requirements. One sign is on the building and the other faces I-270. The sign on the building will have the same dimensions as it had before. The road sign which is currently internally illuminated, and is 144 sq. ft., will be replaced by an internally illuminated sign but will only be 99 sq. ft. in size. There will be no movable or changeable type or any electronic signage being contemplated with this change. Hodge also noted that the request will be going before the graphics commission on May 20.

The group then discussed the speed limit situation on Snouffer Road, between Bent Tree and the railroad tracks and attempts to have the limit reduced. It was also noted that there are no sidewalks in the area, even though the speed limit is currently 45 in the area.

There being no further business to come before the FNWC, the meeting was adjourned.
