JUNE 2002 FNWC MINUTES

FAR NORTHWEST COALITION
P. O. BOX 340285 COLUMBUS, OH 43234

June 26, 2002

The Far Northwest Coalition (FNWC) met for its regularly scheduled meeting at the Northwest Library. Members present of the FNWC Board were John Best, Mark Seeger and Rich Herner.

Dave Keister, representative of the owners Che and Yen Yu Hsu, made a presentation to the FNWC concerning rezoning of a property located at 3510 W. Dublin-Granville Road. This property is situated at the northwest corner of Dublin-Granville Road and Federated Boulevard. The current zoning is CPD and the request is only to change some of the language in the CPD text. They are requesting that a right turn in only from Dublin-Granville be added, as well as moving the set back of the building and parking lot forward by four (4) feet, to allow more room in the back for loading, in relation to the Trillium Place private drive behind the property.

Keister said that City staff had already given conditional approval to the request, based on the approval of the Traffic Dept. for the right turn in only, and is to go to the Development Commission on July 11, 2002. Keister also stated that sidewalks were not mentioned in the text because of the St. Rt. 161 project, though he is aware that they will somehow have to be addressed because of the city ordinance that is now requiring sidewalks to be included.

Best then gave an update to the group on the 40 acres adjacent to McCord and Granby schools on the north side of Hard Road, that was recently purchased by the city from Mrs. Antrim, to be used as a park in the area. Best had a map outlining the purchase and some of the suggestions for the improvements to be made to the property. He felt that area residents should continue to be involved in the project for input into the park improvements to be put in place. He also felt residents should continue to contact city officials for further acquisitions of land for parks. Best noted that by the end of July, the lot split should be recorded and the FNWC may be able to take a look at the property at the next meeting.

Best then mentioned the widening of Sawmill Road just north of I-270 to begin in the Spring of 2003 up to Billingsley Road. He stated that the project should include additional capacity on Billingsley to help relieve congestion at that intersection. Best also spoke about the possibility that Smoky Row could be widened just north of Hard Road, up to and including Sutter Parkway, as part of the Hard Road project to further help relieve congestion in that area.

Best reported to the group that the project known as Fosters Woods, across the road from Bluffsview School is currently in litigation between the property owner and the developers. He did not have any indication of any settlement of that dispute.

It was then moved, and seconded, that the FNWC support the rezoning request for 3510 W. Dublin-Granville Road as proposed, subject to the groups' reservations concerning no mention in the text related to sidewalks along the road frontage. After further discussion, the motion passed.

There being no further business to come before the FNWC, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Rich Herner
Secretary
