Fieldstone Findings - November 2004
President?’s Notes
I would like to extend my thanks to Lori Gudgel for doing such a great job on the block party. She pulled it off single handedly and under budget. She somehow managed to arrange for a perfect fall day too. The food was good and the kids had a great time. It was a wonderful way for so many neighbors to get reacquainted and meet new ones. If you weren?’t able to join us this time, we will plan another for next year. THANKS LORI! Jamie Langston
Sewer System Update
We are scheduled to start November 15th. The day-to-day contact with the city is Tony Case at 519-8797. RL Hensley Construction will do the city portion of the project. Their contact person is Eugene Hill at 663-9936. They will begin the project on South Erie and do Fieldstone Farms first and proceed north to the contiguous block between Fulton and Erie Ave./114th. About six weeks into the project they will start the second leg at the west end of 115th street. That leg will go up the western boundary to 111th to lay the main line and will backtrack, laying the east/west lines as they go. Due to lack of funding, the eastern leg of the project has been cancelled. There are 24 homes that will not be served. We have been told by the city that new funds could be made available in the Feb. 2005 bond issue. Even then it could be many months or years before funding arrives. Please contact councilman Bill Christianson at 596-1990 to let him know that you would like completion of this project to be the first item funded in the bond issue. The more of us that call the better chance we have. This is the third time these homeowners have lost their funding.
Sewer Contractor Bid Committee
Our volunteers are Ken Ward, Eric White, Larry Garrison, and Sharon Maxey. If you have a contractor you would like considered, please let one of them know. They will begin the process soon.
Neighborhood Security
The Directors?’ research on improved security for Fieldstone has shown that video surveillance is cost-prohibitive. Random security patrols are unlikely to be effective. Our best option is for our own off-duty police officer to patrol just our neighborhood during peek hours. While we assume that Fri. and Sat. nights and summertime are the worst, we have no data to show this. If we can determine when incidents are occurring, we can better schedule the service to be effective. Jim Hickman has volunteered to assemble this data for us. If you have had any vandalism or other crime in the last 2 years, please call Jim by December 15th with that information. If we can pinpoint our needs, we can add this to the budget proposal for our annual meeting.
Block Captains
We are still looking for someone to coordinate the program. This person would be responsible for scheduling a brief training meeting for captains with the Crime Commission, distributing materials to Captains, recording crime patterns, and reporting to the HOA at the annual meeting. When the program gets started we will also be able to install Neighborhood Watch signs to also help deter vandalism. Just call Jamie if you would like to help. We?’ll divide up the blocks based on the location of volunteers.
New Web Site
Christina Adams has located a homeowner?’s association web site for us. This is just one more way to keep you informed of issues and events. We will be adding information to the pages as soon as this newsletter goes to press. The site can be located at www.neighborhoodlink.com/tulsa/fstone. Thanks Christina!
Holiday Lighting
The Directors have voted to hire a service to hang and maintain holiday lights at the entrance since there were no volunteers for the job. We have received bids, chosen a company and are attempting to tie up the last details so that lights will go up soon.
Fieldstone Garage Sale
The Fieldstone Garage Sale went well for the first year. We plan to do another one in June. This should allow plenty of time to purge all that extra stuff during spring cleaning. This time we expect more homeowners to participate so we will be running an ad in the paper in addition to the banner on the corner. Watch the newsletter for scheduling.
General Reminders
I have received complaints about neighbors failing to clean up after their dogs on walks. Tulsa does have a leash law and does require that owners ?“scoop.?” Please remember that many homeowners do not want your dog?’s waste in their yard.
City ordinances also prohibit dead trees, RV?’s, and exposed outdoor storage. Please refer to your Fieldstone covenants for details specific to our area. Awareness of these issues will help to maintain the beauty and value of our neighborhood.
