Minutes from the Fisher Park neighborhood Association Meeting September 9, 2003

City council member Claudia Alvarez, our special guest speaker for the evening, gave an informative PowerPoint presentation on the State of the City, which highlighted several of the recent projects and developments (such as the expansion projects of the Discovery Science Center and Bower?’s Museum) underway in Santa Ana. Ms. Alverez also reported that an Office Depot, Target and Kohl?’s are scheduled for construction in March/April 2004 at the Bristol/17th shopping center. She also participated in a question and answer session with those in attendance.

Patrick Mitchell, Park Naturalist, was unable to attend as scheduled but his assistant Rick provided information regarding the upcoming (September 20, 2003) Santa Ana Creek Clean-Up Day.

FPNA Financial Report was presented by Rick Hollabaugh

The following FPNA Calendar of Events were discussed: A reminder that the next Dumpster Day is September 13, 2003

An update on the Neighborhood Sign Post Painting Project was given by Jerry Wood, who asked for a ?“team?” to help and requested any volunteers to sign up after the meeting.

A reminder that the FPNA Halloween event is scheduled for October 30, 2003 in the Cabin.

A reminder that upcoming elections for V.P., Treasurer and Member-at-Large will be at the next FPNA General Meeting on November 11, 2003

Tom Smalley indicated that the new meeting signs had been purchased and that FPNA was using a new ?“logo?” for signs and newsletter.

Presentations:

Ben and Phil presented the Broadway Bulldogs opposition to the One Broadway Plaza proposal.

Dave Lopez and Robert Henson presented their opposition to the Little Saigon Business District Monument.

Mark Murlcarin discussed Santa Ana?’s policy on speed bumps (see www.ci.santa-ana.ca.us/depts/transportation for more information).
