The 08/05/03 FPNA Board meeting minutes are as follows:
Attendees: Jerry Wood; Jeff Van Hoosear; Rob Boyd; Greg McCollum; Diane Farley; Tom Smalley
Absent: Rick Hollabaugh; Tim Hirota
Jerry opened with a recap of the July 4th event, and the following suggestions were made to consider for next year: 1) develop a checklist for the event; 2) have a welcome table with a sign-in book, name tags, information on the association and dues; 3) add music to the pace car; 4) have a band, DJ or sound system; 5) have trash containers and a portable toilet; and 6) address the problem with mini-bikes prior to the event.
Safety Committee
Diane Farley has not yet had an opportunity to review the issue of the speed humps. She will be contacting the president of the Morrison Park association to see how they handle the issue. Drew Kunde submitted the possible topic of crime and gang violence in Santa Ana at an upcoming general meeting due to recent articles on the police hiring freeze and two recent homicides at 17th and Bristol.
Social Committee
The next social event will be the October 30th Halloween event at the Cabin.
Communications Committee
Tom Smalley submitted proposed text and artwork for the new general meeting signs which the Board approved.
Treasurer's Report
Rick was absent and no report was presented.
General Items
The Board will seek dates for the sign painting project at the next general meeting, as well as seek volunteers and supplies (truck, generator, sprayer) needed for the project.
It was discussed to seek a sharing of minutes from the surrounding neighborhood associations so issues of interest to all could be reviewed.
Calendar Items
The next general meeting is September 9 - Jerry will talk to Rick to see if the historian from First American Title is available to speak. Another possible speaker is Dave Ream to update the neighborhood on the Farmer's site and the status of the repairs to the Cabin.
Dumpster Day is September 13 - locations to be announced.
The Morrison Park Concert in the Park is scheduled for September 22.
The November General meeting will have elections for Vice President, Treasurer and a Member at Large (Rob Boyd's position). A flyer will be prepared to send out with the September meeting announcement.
