I think that the playground is a MUST?…..we are right down the street from an Elementary school which is a huge draw for young families and a nice playground will make our neighborhood stand out when homebuyers are looking.

I also think that some covered picnic tables will also be a huge plus?…?….would be a nice place to have a youths birthday party.

I didn?’t hear anyone mention it last night ?…?….but I think a large open Multi purpose field would be a great use of space?…?…some place for the kids to play football or play catch that is not in the street. I think it would be great to have it on one side near the home owner that is next to the park to also act as a buffer for that homeowner and the maintenance would not be near the cost of a Tennis court and it would get way more use?…?…beside there are tennis courts right down the street at Girvin. Also Tennis Courts require fences that are unsightly and view obstructing.

What I would like in the park

I agree with playground equipment and picnic tables and definately the open multi-purpose field.

OPEN SPACE IS BETTER - Except for maybe a basketball court (which we have enough teens how would make it worthwile to have), single use areas limit us in how we can use the space. If the place is nice, open and flat, then we can play soccer, stick ball, run, jump, fly a kite, have a great open space for the community to get together and just enjoy ourselves.

SOMETHING FOR TODDLERS - We need to make sure that the play area has something for the little ones who are more likely to be home in the daytime (under 5 years). Lower slides and platforms and openings large enough for mom/dad to go ''rescue'' a stranded young one.

SHADE - Whereever the play area is, we should try to maintain some shade over it. in the summer you cant use most equipment after 10am or before 5 pm because it's sizzling hot. I have a backyard structure and I'm going to have to get a shade sail to make it useable during the daytime next summer. My kids had to play in long pants if they wanted to go slide or swing.

What would you like at the park

I like the idea of a multi purpose field.
I think having a field leaves many oppurtunites for different tyoes of activities.
