Small planes

Posted in: Historic Old Northeast
At the end of the NSNA meeting a gentleman brought up a valid remark about the increasing traffic of small planes on approach to Albert Whitted Airport . It is not only the noise factor but also a potential accident worry. He proposed making a NSNA committe to look into air traffic existing regulations , noise ordonances...to address a problem before it becomes a fait accomplit .Could the landing approach be done more above the water and less above us?
I would like to know if other neighbors are also concerned and if they would like to look into it . The NSNA board meeting is in 3 weeks and this could be brought to the agenda. Please join in the discussion >>>

Yes, this is a problem but it is not new. I have lived here for forty years. Nothing will be done about that airport until Ruth Varns is no longer running that show.

Tell the gentleman who spoke at that meeting to call her. He's wasting his time unless her can convince her that there is really a problem.

re: small planes

Please note that air traffic patterns change seasonally due to prevailing winds. Historically, during the spring and fall (when our windows are opened and we are outside & the weather is decent), the flight patterns seem to be farther west, ie, over land.

This problem exists not only for North Shore but also all along the Pinellas eastern shores of Tampa Bay & those neighborhoods. And, if you really want misery, try living in Feather Sound or
along the Bay in south Tampa !

Thank you for your post could you please elaborate who is Ruth Varns ? Could you also explain how the situation has evolved over the years.
I would appreciate any information on the subject to have a better understanding about the subject.
