A Response and a Challenge

There seems to be a general feeling that the Board or certain of its members were/are conspiring to help CVS. This is simply not the case. First, no member of the Board offered to support CVS's zoning request. We simply voted not to object as long as their request was in compliance with our neighborhood plan. We never said or did anything that should have led CVS to believe that we were going to offer support. Second, I am not aware of CVS making four attempts to meet with the board or the general membership, so I cannot deny or affirm that statement. However, I do know that no one intentionally delayed the process to assist CVS.

Remember, your Board is made up of your neighbors not professional politicians. We try and do the best we can but problems like these arrise. I am excited to see so many people rally behind a cause. I hope all of you don't go away after this issue is over. The sad thing is that come election time every year, we typically have to beg people to run for positions.
Stay active and help us continue to improve our neighborhood.

a "hero" in all this

With all due respect Mr. Lastinger, I have heard that the board secretary, a woman named Arlene, saved the board's behind by writing a very precise letter.
Rumor has been circulating that you and another board member were very PRO
development and tried to rush the process at the board meeting. Afterwards this secretary said she refused to write a letter stating things that had not been voted on at that meeting. She is a HERO in the sense that she kept the board's very arrogant vote from doing more harm than it has already done. Your point that the board is just neighbors, etc., is a valid one, but it does not justify the attitude of at least part of the board which is still defensive (exhibit A = your note above, exhibit B = the formal notification to only members of the June 13 special meeting.
