You want reasons?

To begin with...not too many have really acessed this website...but for sake of arguemen....

Because they probably live in charmless yucko-stucco stack-a-shacks....

...where individuality is even more repressed and lacking than here!

...and where for a few bucks they can see how individuals and families live in a UNIQUE environment that they are willing to stand up a speak out for no matter if their opinion is popular or not!

but....

I believe there are other neighborhoods that offer tours of historic homes and neighborhoods (perhaps the one to the west of us?). And, I haven't heard about terrible infighting or the ''nasties'' that seem to have us in their grips lately as being a problem there.

If you talk to people around the city you will find that more people read this page than you think, and I don't think we have been setting up a welcoming attitude lately. I agree that committee has done a great job in the past. I didn't intend to make it sound as if the tour itself was a deterrent, its just the environment that a few of our neighbors are perpetuating. Get off your high horse guys, and stop screwing things up for the rest of the neighborhood. The sun does not rise and set based on us!

A Cure for the Nasties...

Shele, maybe the cure for ''the nasties'' is to promote and continue to be involved in positive, constructive, helpful neighborhood association activities. There's no nastiness or infighting on the Candlelight Tour of Homes Committee and nothing but great attitudes in evidence in terms of Committee members, volunteers and the participating homeowners. I can understand that the unpleasantness has been a turn-off--it's been very difficult--but let's not condemn the entire association or its constructive activities because of the actions of a few. I personally know alot of association members who are not going to let ''the nasties'' deter them from working positively on behalf of the neighborhood.
