This has not been a pleasant experience for any of us on the Board. Especially Joyce, Steve or Alrene. All of us have been accused one way or the other of having failed to act on behalf of the membership. I became so frustrated at the allegations that I left an angry voice message for Joyce that was a contributing factor in her decision to resign. I shall always regret that call. Steve stated to the Board Monday night that with the benfit of hindsight, he would have done things differently. There is pleanty of blame to go around. There is pleanty for us to learn from this experience. I certainly hope that we never go through anything like this again. The Board is determined to put policies and proceedures in place so that it won't.

We, the Board, have to to find a way to overcome the hurt feelings that have accumulated over the past 2 weeks. I am asking all of the membership to give us the space we need to do that. There are now two new Board memebers, Susan R, who has posted many messages on the web page, and Cynthia, who has been so involved from the bike parade to the Home Tour. I look forward to working with eveyone on the Board.

Please let us go forward. My posting yesterday was designed to get us refocused on what we have in common. The responses were not encouraging. Unsigned accusations and calls to remove the Board or an Officer do not help us to find those common goals. As I said in my response to a posting today, get involved. This is your association. We merely serve. You have made it abundantly clear that we messed up at the May Board Meeting. Please. give us a chance to regain your trust.

Lesson Learned

Greg has made a very good point. It does absolutely no good to dwell on the errors made by many in the last few weeks. The President, the Booard and the Members have all learned invaluable lessons from the CVS project. Do not let these lessons be lost on us. Let us learn from them and move forward with positive thoughts and positive changes to insure we do not make the same mistakes in the future. Members must be involved and their voices must be heard for the Board to do an effective job of leading the Association. I for one, plan to get more involved and attend the meetings so I may be informed and express my feelings. The Board can not read the minds of the members, we must tell them what we want!

Well, it seems the board is not doing it's duty. Though I do not doubt you are trying, it would seem that things are not improving.

I have seen and heard things which need to be aired to the membership.They are not pleasant but it has become more than worrisome that the President can't speak for the members or chair meetings because he cannot reconcile himself to their views.

When a president of an organization does not perform his duties, then the question arises as to why he would want to remain in the position.

Over the years many have been involved but have been discouraged about the way things have been handled. Much talent has left due to this very fact.

The question is : how long does it take the board to coalesce and solve these problems? If you met just this week, why are things not coming together. From experience, I can guess.
