Mr. Steven Lange clearly loves North Shore and has done so much for the neighborhood over the years. He continues to work for North Sore with the historic designation application and other
volunteer efforts.

My take on what has happened recently is that Mr. Lange's fervor to advance the neighborhood has tended to blind him to how much he HAS accomplished and how much the neighborhood has improved. New people have moved in, the demographics have changed, and, for whatever reason, Mr. Lange is no longer in tune
with how many people feel about things. He is so involved, and trying so hard to work for the neighborhood, that he doesn't SEE
it for what is is. He speaks his opinion too honestly at times, which unnecessarily offends many people.

The president of a volunteer group must to be able to represent the whole group and step to the side when he/she personally feels differently. A president also needs to be able to speak at all times with dignity and always take care not to offend anyone on a personal level. Mr. Lange's strengths are great- he is intelligent, dedicated, strong, talented and well versed in city processes. However his weakness is that he is so passionate that he is sometimes rude, controlling, and speaks out of turn. It is this weakness, I think, which has brought things to the current situation.

I do not think that anyone disagrees that Mr. Lange has been an invaluable asset to North Shore. I think people are looking for more balance. And most important, I think that most people think that he should not be the spokesman for the association.

OK - fine so I'm accused of being that way too - so I can't be (nor do I want to be) spokesperson for your org. Now let's get to the crux of the matter - who on the board is not ''sometimes rude, controlling, and speaks out of turn.'' Lets start the run down big boy

JOD - seeing as he does't do anything, he hasn't been that way.
We, I could continue but I believe you see where this is heading. If one accepts and applys your weak logic, we are left with a few new people or do nothings. Or, are you suggesting we start fresh by throwing all them out!!

No stella. I was trying to be kind. Of course everyone is occasionally rude, controlling and speaks out of turn. What I really was saying, since you do not understand subtlety is:
Mr. Lange is so controlling and obsessive that he speaks in public meetings by calling people names,
he singles out city staffers at board meetings and to other city staff and tries to get them thrown out of their jobs, he verbally abuses other association volunteers ON A REGULAR BASIS, and he has no regard for people who have differing opinions than his.

As for GB- I have never seen him call anyone a ''liar'' in public or tell them to sit down and shut up.
As for AB- She has taken finger snapping, barked orders, 7am and 10pm demanding phone calls from this man for months- long before he was president officially. And has been publically humiliated by him- but she does not do the same in return.
As for JOD- You are obviously out of the loop. He works very hard and honestly as treasurer and on a multitude of smaller projects and social events. He is a positive, very productive volunteer. He just does not seek adulation.

To really answer your reply- when I said sometimes, I really meant far too often, regularly, frequently. And if you do not think this hurts the association, then you do not know what people outside of the neighborhood really think- we're a joke. And the city thinks we are too demanding. It is because the way we don't ask- because Mr. Lange only knows how to demand. And he is our spokesperson.
