One item raised on this site that those of you who are attending the Vision 2020 meetings should be bold enough to address:
The land use of Albert Whitted Airport. It is a terrible use of such valuable land. The city should not go into any more lease on this land with the airport and envision this land for a more truly public use in the future.
Think out of the box and challenge this land use !

Vision 2020
Get back into your box. Albert Whited is just fine where it is. The only people who want the airport changed are those who will stand to make a buck on it should it be eliminated. This sordid attempt to influence those who might enfluence the airport outcome has been tried and failed before. Each and every time there is any kind of a challenge, those of us who are airport supporters step up and defend the airport. It is still there and it will be for a long, long time. So you might as well find another issue to bang on.

To Plane Lover
No, I would not benefit ''by making a buck'' if the land now used for Albert Whitted was used for a more useful purpose. However, I believe that people who loves planes can love them just as much just 10-15 minutes away at St. Pete Clw Airport.
This would free up valuable waterfront land for more access to the average taxpayer- not just the weathy.

Airport
I agree wholeheartedly ! The airport is a terrible use for waterfront land, breaks the chain of lovely parkland, and is an enormous expanse of asphalt and concrete that causes runoff into the bay. If the taxpayers want to subsidize something, why not use this for parkland and the expansion of USF. This would bring much more money, culture and long term benefit to the community.
Anyone who looks at an aerial map of the downtown sees that the airport is a blight and an eyesore on the downtown.
