North Shore Park closes at 11PM.
Our Community Police Officer, Jacques LaMonde, has asked me to alert residents of North Shore to this fact and to explain that the police will be enforcing this ordinance stictly.
Due to a continuing problem with crime taking place in the park, officers have been instructed to issue citations to anyone in the park after the 11PM closing hour. Because the officers are not permitted to discrimate between individuals who are ''suspicious'' or ''unsuspicious'', citations will have to be handed out to all. The goal is to clear the park of all people late at night, therefore preventing crime.
The police have tried other methods to stop the illicit and illegal activities in the park but have met with mixed success. Most of the crimes are related to prostitution and/or drugs.
Some of the activity begins on 4th Street, traverses through the neighborhood, and culminates in the park.
Please, if you are going to take your dog for a walk or go for a jog in the park, do it before 11pm.
