I have ben reading so many messages about people who don't like the board, want change, think the old board was better, yadda, yadda, yadda. What are you doing to ensure the type of change you would like to see happen actually take place? Those who remain critics of all they see and hear, but don't take an hour out of their busy day to say, what can I do to help, how can I make it better for my neighborhood and ultimately reap personal rewards from my participation will forever remain powerless and nothing more than a critic.
It's great to have this website to vent anger and frustration, it lets others know what is on your mind, but please, balance that with actions. None of us ever really want to get involved. It's too much time, we're too busy, or any other excuse not to participate. But there's got to be at least 1 issue in this Association that your voice, time, and presence can make a difference. Something that will light a fire under your butt and you say ''Enough! I've got to do something.'' If not here, in your own backyard where your contribution counts both for you as a property owner, parent, grandparent, friend, neighbor,as well as a unified neighborhood that has the power to create change, then where?
I never thought I would get involved, but after moving here 2 years ago, I fell in love with the history, charm, neighborly comraderie, and everything else that makes Old North East unique, I had to become vocal. I am so glad I did. I feel so proud to initiate change (even if some don't agree with it, that's good too)I will continue to as well.
I have seen my property value rise as all of you have in the past few years. We are blessed, we live in one of the most sought after neighborhoods in the city. One of the most prestigious and certainly one of the most beautiful with so much to offer each of us.
Let's work together, even if we have different views of how to get things done, progress can happen. If you don't like something GET INVOLVED and help change it! If you like something GET INVOLVED and make sure it keeps going, be an integral part of the most valuable asset you have next to your families, your home and its neighborhood. I did and I will continue to. You will know me the moment I open my mouth to speak. Let's talk at the board elections on january 15th about what's to come for the new year and how we can contribute to it. Be positive and VOTE on Monday, it's your neighborhood, your choice.
