If you ever had a problem with a house near you or wondered whether work was being done legally you can get information on any building by going to the web site www.NYC.gov/buildings. The Building Information System database, known as BIS, allows users who know the property?’s house number and street access to the building?’s profile. That includes the detailed status of complaints and a listing of the number of violations filed against the building.
