But, many of those riding in the local area are not racers. A track is of no interest at all.
I'm glad somebody brought up Marshall Creek. Some years ago, it was a fun place to go. Then the town of Trophy Club took control from the Corps. That first year, they tried to close it, (the Corp stepped in), started charging a fee, and basically cut the riding area by 2/3. Since you've ridden there, you know that it is not the place to take a kid on a small bike/ATV. It is usually loaded with aggressive riders trying to get the most of the limited area which they paid to be at. Fun for some, a fearful death trap for others. Plenty of all of this is out on riders blogs.

Sure, everybody could load up their bikes and drive an hour or two away? That's the other part of the problem. Some like the idea of staying near their home and taking their family on a relaxing trial ride. It isn't a full day project.

When I moved here 10 years ago, I scouted the area first. To my wife's chagrin, I was happy to see the open land with years of trails nearby. I knew that the trails didn't just grow there; I expected to see other riders. I suppose that was part of the charm of River Trails, so different than the urban locked Arlington areas.

When we first moved into this neighborhood I met several of the neighbors with ATV's this is what made me move to River Trails and for over 4 years now we haven't had any complaints until recently. We make it apoint to drive slow and to try and respect people in our community but to no avail.Mabey if the people doing the complaining would take a look at the whole picture and realize that we pay our mortages and tax's just the same as they do. It is sad that the complainers think this world revolves around them.
