The Urban Reforestation of Fox Canyon Continues.

Since Mayor Dick Murphy, kicked-off Arbor Day San Diego to get the entire City behind his goal of planting trees on the parkway, Fox Canyon has had two planting.

Arbor Day Fox Canyon (in conjunction with the rest of the City) planted 27 trees on Lantana Drive (11/16/02), and the other on Euclid/Auburn (06/14/03), on the parkway of the vacant lot behind the Egyptian Garage, planted sevent treets.

Don Henely, the owner of the lot, was so pleased with the trees that he has paid a substantial amount of money to have a sprinkler system put on the strip, to ensure that the trees will survive. He also will have trees planted in front of Bravo's Taco Shop and the apartment building all on Euclid Avenue. These actions put us all to work due to fact that in many occasions; we lagged a bit behind on our watering duties, and complaint about the cost. If you see Don, please express you gratitude for such investment in the fixing and rehabilitation of our community. The partnership between property and homeowners need to be strong, as we are all interested in improving the quality of life for every resident.

In addition, we all need to care, defend and seriously take ownership of the street treets, in addition, to help control the vandalism on all our street trees, not just our own.

If you see vandalism taking place, call the police at 531-2000, and take the licence plates of the car if one has bump into a tree with the aim of parking on the curb.

Council with young people, teach them to respect and develop a loving actitude toward nature and trees.

The street trees provide a remarkable benefit to our entire community and your property values in particular. Esthetically and financially, the trees provide beauty and shade, lowering our energy consumption in summertime and sipping from the water table on wintertime, to avoid erosion. In the meantime, take stroll on our streets and count the trees.

Call us (619) 282-2788, if you want a FREE tree for the front of you house and be planted on the parkway at NO CHARGE, by our marvelous partner, the URBAN CORPS of San Diego. Again, the trees are a grant from our Councilmember to the good people of Fox Canyon, the community of choice within City Heights.
