"All of Mid-City is in desperate need of lush green parks space and Councilmember Madaffer vows to change this situation so that our children have a safe place to play. He is working with community leaders and City staff to build a park in the Fox Canyon/Chollas Creek area. There are many nearby apartments with children so the entire area will benefit."
In addition to the lack of other resources and infrastructure, Fox Canyon is totally indigent in dedicated Parks land. The entire neighborhood was developed on the plateaus of five finger canyons that provide the sense of open space. This space has been densely build upon to maximized living space without the reality of a needed refuge for wild life and humans.
Such landlocked and densely built neighborhood needs a system of parks and open spaces dedicated to its indigenous and transitory inhabitants. So that at the end of the day, the residents and visitors can take refuge from daily pressures in a park; children will have a decent and dedicated place to play and all these will enhance the beauty of our community and its topography.
Our children, now, play in open drain ditches and all over the streets, putting in danger their lives and the lives and security of drivers and pesdestrians, as well.
It is time for our children to play in the security of a park. With your help, no more storm drain ditches, no more balls of dust, but the security of a dedicated place to play.
We are working hard to bring to fruition the following proposed system of of Fox Canyon parks:
1] The end of Lantana park
2] The Auburn/Lantana linear park
3] The Ontario park
