A group of concerned citizens feel that the Town of Foxfield does not meet the needs of the citizens of this area and believe that it should be un-incorporated.
On January 14, 2002 this group met to discuss un-incorporation of the town of Foxfield. A representative from Arapahoe County also attended to answer questions regarding the un-incorporation of the town. The general tone of this meeting was very positive. While discussing current problems with the Town of Foxfield, it was felt that there are many benefits that would be received by all from un-incorporating the town and returning to Arapahoe County for local government. It was also apparent that more informational meetings should be held so that all Foxfield citizens could totally discuss our future.
Several citizens had done some research regarding possible annexation by other cities in the area. There are two possible existing governing bodies that could possibly annex Foxfield, Aurora or Centennial. Neither one of these towns want to absorb the expenses of Foxfield because it has essentially no revenue source. By law, however, Arapahoe County would be required to assume government jurisdiction should Foxfield be unincorporated. Arapahoe County will accept this responsibility in a very cooperative manner.
Citizens attending this meeting feel so strongly that there are substantial benefits in the un-incorporation of Foxfield that they want to put this issue on the April 2002 ballet to be voted on by all citizens. These citizens have moved forward with a petition initiative. By signing a petition you will be able to help explore reasons to your satisfaction to either stay with the existing town we have, or to un-incorporate. Benefits and facts will be available from both sides so everyone will have a chance to make informed decisions. Everyone is welcome to attend any meeting to listen, participate, and gather information. The improvement of our homes, property, and general well being is a common goal with everyone.
During the next 2 weeks your neighbors will be calling on you asking that you help by signing this petition just to get it on the ballot and have the opportunity to explore alternatives. Remember, the vote isn't until April 2002, but the petition is due February 1st.
