Traffic Calming

The Problem:
?· Speed
?· Volume
?· Dust
?· Safety
?· Impacted routes and community access points
Issues:
?· We all know it has gotten worse
?· Foxfield residents and passer-through cause the problem
?· Paving will increase volume and speed of traffic
?· Q ?– what will it be like when Arapahoe Road is finished?
?· Q ?– What will it be like when church construction is complete?
?· What does it cost? What can we afford to pay?
Background:
?· Lots of ?“solutions?” are available (more cops, stop signs, circles,
gates, street closures, dips, narrow streets, offset intersections)
?· Most solutions are developed for more ?“suburban?” or ?“urban?” areas
?· Most re-direct the problem to other areas
Ideas:
?· Build on community efforts to date (what are they?)
?· Think short-term (inexpensive and can be implemented without
street paving
?· Think long-term (coordinate with street paving project)
?· Think in terms of programs as well as projects
?· Consider a citizen monitoring program
?· Enforce existing zoning for traffic management (i.e., church site)
?· Other?
