Neighbors,

Happy Summer!

In the event you are new to the neighborhood, WELCOME! Should you wish to join FERA, please email FranklinEstates@hotmail.com for more information.

A few reminders for summertime as more people spend time outdoors...

Please remember to SLOW DOWN as you or your guests drive through the neigbhorhood. We have many small children and walkers on the streets, yet many cars travel much higher than the posted speed limit.

Also, as a courtesy to neighbors, please keep your car stereos lowered when driving through the neighborhood - especially at night. There are times when neighbors have reported disturbances during times of slumber! Thanks in advance!

MESSAGE FROM FRANKLIN ESTATES PRESIDENT

We have received many inquiries concerning the following:

GARAGE SALE:

It seems we have quite a few families interested in having a garage sale this year. With so many of us on vacations this summer, we have decided to hold it in early fall. We have actively been looking for a chairperson for the event and now think we have a good one. More news concerning this will come at a later date. We all have items hidden away in our basements, garages and attics that we would like to rid ourselves of so this is our chance to get them all together in preparation for this community garage sale. The more participants we have, the more successful it will be for all.

MURRYSVILLE COUNCIL AND THE BUNCHER PROPERTY:

This is a more urgent item facing all of us living in Franklin Estates. I have received many calls on this. Residents here are probably already aware of what is happening. Our newspapers have been full of this news. There has been a proposal by the new owner/developers of the former Buncher Property, located behind Choice Gas Station on Rt. 22 to build a shopping plaza on the land. Although this was on the agenda for the June Council Meeting, it was not discussed. We expect it to be on the agenda at the July Meeting.

I was able to discuss this with Mayor Somers this last week prior to her leaving for the 4th of July weekend.
I have left messages with John M. Barrett, Chief Administrator and with Chris Rearick, Director of Community Development. If you are concerned about how such a development so close to our homes would affect you and/or if you feel that the added traffic would create problems, it would be to your benefit to contact these people and express your ideas and concerns. They can all be reached at 724-327-2100 or you can go to the municipal building and see them in person.

Your attendance at the Council Meetings would be most useful in making Council aware of our opinions.
We appreciate those who are already actively participating but the more people in attendance, the more power we gain as a unit.

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer and hope to meet all of you soon.
