Crime Declines In First Nine Months of 1998 & 1999

The CODEFOR Unit of the Minneapolis Police Department has released data on crimes reported in the Fulton neighborhood, comparing the first nine months of the years 1998 and 1999.

The Fifth Precinct numbers were also released and the trends are encouraging: only one homicide this year compared to five in 1998, with aggravated assaults dropping 14%, auto thefts down 8%, robbery down 5%, and burglary down 2%.
The crimes reported in Fulton make up a very small percentage of the Fifth Precinct totals. For example, this year Fulton has accounted for only about 3% of the Precinct?’s burglaries, 2% of the robberies and larcenies, and 1% of the auto thefts and aggravated assaults. The accuracy of this data, which was compiled on September 24, 1999, is calculated to be within a range of plus-or-minus 2.5%.
