General Membership Meeting Minutes for November 16, 2000

The November 16, 2000, General Membership meeting of Gaffney Lane Neighborhood
Association (GLNA) was called to order by Chairman, Derrick Beneville at 7:10 PM. Eighteen
members were in attendance. The following is a summarized version of the minutes:
Announcements:
* Derrick reported on the First City?’s Future Committee meeting held November 4th, 2000
which was attended by over 120 people. The next meeting is January 31, 2001 at the Pioneer
Community Center at 7:00 PM.
Unfinished Business:
* Treasurer?’s report: Checking account balance is $318.49, Savings account balance is $311.04
for a total of $629.53. A motion was made to approve the report as read and passed.
* Land Use issues reported included: 1) the new design standards that the City will be using for
new construction; 2) received an application for the new Miller Paint store to go in on Molalla
across from the Post Office; 3) improvements are planned for Molalla Ave. the beginning of
2001.
* Derrick showed a sample of the new street signs designed with our new logo. We will have 10
signs to put up around the boundaries of GLNA.
* Chief?’s Advisory Update: we still need a representative to attend.
New Business:
* Mary Palmer, Public Affairs Manager for the City attended to conduct the nomination and
election of new officers and steering committee members. New officers are as follows: 1)
Derrick Beneville, Chairman; 2) Shelly Alway, Vice-Chairman; 3) Janet Brand, Secretary; 4)
Michele Beneville, Treasurer. There was a motion to accept current Steering committee
members for the next year. The motion passed.
* Carolyn Orlando spoke about Fill A Stocking, Fill a Heart. She reported that their goal is
2000 stockings. They have received about 1700 so far. A motion was made for GLNA to
donate $50 to Fill A Stocking, Fill A Heart and was passed unanimously.
* Door prizes were given away.
