GGCCA Committees--what should GGCCA be doing?

Stakeholders needed to take on committee duties

There is an ongoing need for individuals (members or not) to work on a variety of committees that do or will help build the permanent foundation of this organization.
These committees do the detailed crafting of our standards and policies which guide us in creating a sustainable group of current and future civic leaders.
Those leaders then leave behind a living legacy that, hopefully, has the effect of improving the quality of life, the value of property and the accountability of those elected individuals we choose to represent us politically.
From that base we can build a strong community of empowered, engaged asset-aware residents and property owners dedicated to investing in the area for the long term, knowing that they will benefit themselves and as a whole.
All this begins with people who believe that there are certain things that we should be doing to get where we can by the best and shortest route. Those people have ideas, dreams, visions and by joining with others who share them, can make them happen. This is how committees are formed and function.
While there are some committees that are created by the vision of the Board members who recognize the need for action on certain issues, others should evolve from the desire of people who want to change something they care about.
So, what is it that you care about that you are willing to use the tools and contacts available within this organization to further accomplish something you believe is worth working toward?
If you have an idea or suggestion, all you have to do is bring it to us and be willing to help it get started and to invest your own personal assets (that's talent, time, skills, dedication, etc.) into it and to promote it to others who think like you do and will step up to help.
Do you want us to be more involved in guiding youth (perhaps those "at risk") to become confident enough to become the leaders of the future.
Maybe you see worry and want around your home, shopping area, school or church and want to raise the standards that your neighbors will live by when they see others care and willing to do something about situations that seem hopeless.
Perhaps you want to stem the rise of crime and know that the effective way to do it is block by block getting neighbors to know and watch out for each other.
Or any number of things that would bring value or improvement to your neighborhood if something were addressed.
No one is going to ride in to the rescue. You've got to take things in hand and do it yourself.
Our job is to help you as much as we can; support you, assist you, guide you, connect you....not to do it for you. That takes away YOUR power and control and cripples your belief in yourself and your destiny.
Give it some thought. You may already be doing something that, by collaborating with others we may direct you to, it would multiply your effectiveness and satisfaction.
