Mike Collis, WA6SVT, a broadcast TV and Radio engineer, gave a great presentation on Amateur Television at the May 16, 2006 meeting of the the Glendora Emergency Response Communications group. Using a mobile camera and transceiver in his truck Mike sent video to a small hand held television receiver that he had modified. Enlarge photo at left to see it. We viewed a video of the basics of ATV and Mike answered questions from those in attendance. This video is available on loan to any interested GERC member.
Mike explained that amateur television is popular in many parts of the country including Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Indiana, where repeaters are set up for the Amateur Television Network.
The Glendora Emergency Response Communications group is learning about ATV for its potential application to on-scene disaster reporting to the Main Facility as well as Unit facilities.
