REPORT - Field Day June 24, 2004 by Mark Hayden KF6DSA
The Glendora Emergency Response Communications group held its third annual ARRL Field Day on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Horsethief Canyon Park in San Dimas, California. Nolan Gomm, KG6TQH arranged with the City of San Dimas to open the gate for us to be able to drive to the upper plateau which made an excellent location for the two Recreational Vehicles and several cars, along with a large field where we erected masts for our antennas.
We had three stations this year, 20 meters 40 meters and 2 meter single side band. During our abbreviated six hours of contesting (ARRL Field Day is actually held for 24 hours), we verified 32 contacts on 20 meters, 16 contacts on 40 meters, and 27 contacts on 2 meter single side band for a total of 75 contacts.
A big THANK YOU to all those hams and family and friends who visited, participated in the set up and take down of antennas and/or got on the air this year!

We acknowledge the heroic barbecuing of delicious steaks cooked up by Frank Bigelow in the stifling heat of the day. Everyone enjoyed Frank?’s special Dutch oven baked beans and potato salad. If the success of any event is measured on its cuisine, then the GERC 2006 Field Day was a rousing success!
